:: LEGO Ambassador Information

The LEGO Ambassador program is a community based program made up of adult LEGO hobbyists, commonly referred to as AFOLs or Adult Fans of LEGO, who share their product and building expertise with the world-wide LEGO community (kids and adults actively participating in a LEGO community) and the public (kids, parents, grandparents). LEGO Ambassador’s mission is to help provide inspiration for LEGO builders of all ages and from all parts of the world.
All LEGO Ambassadors members are expected to exemplify the program fundamentals of building proficiency, enthusiasm, and professionalism towards the public, other fans and the LEGO Company.
In addition, LEGO Ambassadors members agree to be active contributors to the LEGO world-wide community by engaging in activities such as:
- Engaging in fan-to-fan support in online forums
- Actively participating with local LEGO clubs, or forming LEGO clubs if none exist locally
- Posting feedback, guidance, and other types of support in their favorite online communities
- Writing articles for publication online and offline
- Presenting LEGO building subject matter at events and conferences, as well as local user group meetings
LEGO Ambassadors are selected from a pool of international candidates. The complete profiles of all current current LEGO Ambassadors can be found here.
:: Steven's LEGO Ambassador Profile from 2nd and 3rd Cycles (September 2005-September 2006)
A forty something AFOL, Steven has been building with LEGO since he was eight years old. His fondest childhood memory is Sunday afternoon space builds with his best friend. His dark period occurred after college and spanned a period of eight years until his daughter Katherine was born and the "need" to purchase LEGO product began once again. It was during this time that Steven discovered Mindstorms and began exploring the world of LEGO robotics. As he continued to build, he discovered a need to document his robotic creations and became interested in the LDRAW project, MLCAD and LPub. The release of LEGO Digital Designer added to his LEGO software toolkit.

Steven and his wife, Nikki, are the hosts of the Bricks in my Pocket (BimP) podcast, BimPCast the offical podcast of LEGOFan. The show can be heard online or downloaded regularly using a podcatching client such as iTunes. On the show, the two banter about LEGO news, the hobby, and life as a couple of AFOLs. Future shows will also include info on the Ambassadorial experience.
When not building robots or creating in LDD, Steven enjoys the Star Wars line and collecting Technic sets. He was a beta tester for the MAC version of LDD and was selected to serve as a LEGO Ambassador during the second cycle. His paying job is as a Professor and Instructional Technologist for Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana where he integrates LEGO into his curriculum and hosts a biannual LEGO Robotics competition for local middle school, high school and college students. He is also the founder of the Building Historic Evansville in LEGO competition held annually as part of the college's Arts and Design Week. He has written over 19 Computer-Aided Design textbooks and is currently completing the dissertation requirement for a Ph.D. from Indiana State University. Steven also serves as a Major in the United States Army Reserves. He lives in Evansville with his wife Nikki, daughter Katherine and his son Thomas.
