Welcome to my personal web page!I am Oscar Rodriguez, Faculty in the School of Technology of Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington, Indiana. I love teaching because it is a way to give back to others in return for what I have received from those that impacted my life with education. I am very student centered in my teaching approach. I love to see individuals enthusiastic about their educational and life goals. My own experience tells me that if people is willing to work and put effort and sacrifice , they can change their destiny, and improve their families and their communities. A lot of things start with a correct education. Especially in today's economy, there are only few opportunities for those that may not have the proper education and training, but many good ones for those prepared to succeed. Interests and teaching experienceI have been an educator for over 15 years . About 5 years in secondary education, 10 years in higher education and industrial training. Initially I taught welding, machining, and electrical technology at various technical institutes. From 1997 on I have taught in higher education, colleges and universities, as well as corporate sites in Latin America. I have taught electronics, robotics, PLC's, fiber optics, and engineering automation in general. I am particularly interested in multidisciplinary technologies, or mechatronics. I also have interest in providing technology education and corporate training opportunities for high school students and corporate workers to get motivated and enter the technical field. Distance learning technologies has been one of the fields I have also been involved in implementing technology initiatives to improve student enrollment and retention in technology education programs.
