ASSIGNMENTS
1. Self-Assessment Exercises  You will benefit greatly if you use the self-assessment exercises to authentically assess your understanding of the material.  Even thought the answers are provided, you should answer the questions, and return to the chapter to review any that you missed.  You are to word process both the complete question and full answer for all of the Self-assessments.  You will submit the full question and answer (no letter "B" for example) and include the page number in the chapter where you found the answer.

This will provide another method of input and recall and will aid understanding and retention.  I consider the self-assessments to be guided review rather than testing.  Work submitted with errors, will not be graded.  You would do well to keep a printed copy for each chapter to use for review during the course.

2. Exercises  You will have a great deal to read about a broad range of web related topics.  You will only be required to do a limited number of Hands-on Exercises. These will include the sections on html, java (introductory only) Dreamweaver, CSS, and a few others.  You will find the submission links (used to submit your work) in the Assignments page of the Distance Learning site.

I will be offering an advanced class which will use this book (I think it is fantastic) again at which time we will do the programming and scripting in depth.

3. Chapter Summary  We will read and review the Summary sections throughout the course.  These will aid in learning and retention of the zillion terms and acronyms you need to know to pass the Certification Exam.
4. CIW Foundations Certification Exam The actual certification exam will act as your final exam.  The certification exam can be taken at any approved testing center.  Most Ivy Tech campuses offer this testing.  You can contact Brenda Strope, bstrope@ivytech.edu our regional testing coordinator to obtain your voucher number.  You paid for the test as a part of your tuition, you need the voucher number to schedule the testing.
