Szervusztok barátaim!

The primary purpose of this site is to serve as a portal through which Kuszi and I can provide links to class resources for the classes I teach, as well as links to some other interesting sites.

That's Kuszi on the right. She's far prettier than I am, so I thought I'd put her picture here rather than mine. She's a Komondor. We're both Hungarian, but we were both born in the USA. We are both students of Hungarian culture and language.

I teach a variety of CIS classes at Ivy Tech State College in Sellersburg, Indiana. I've been involved with computers for most of the last thirty years. But my first love was biology. So, armed with my undergraduate degree in zoology and over 50 graduate hours in biological and marine sciences I also teach Biology whenever I can.

You may contact me by phone at (812) 246-3301 ext 4146 or email me at jpatus@ivytech.edu.

I am currently pursuing a graduate degree at Indiana University Southeast in Liberal Studies. My research area is the human population dynamics of Southern Indiana in the 19th century. This way I can combine my love for biology with computer applications. Through this program I am also able to round out my narrow education ;) by taking classes and seminars in a variety of disciplines.

I am a big fan of open wheel racing, especially sprint cars. My older son, Matt, is an avid kart racer is hot on the trail of at least won championship this season. My younger son, Jacob, a has is own web page that he maintains himself, as well as doing most of the work on the Patus Racing site. My other hobbies include home brewing, Hungarian and Gypsy music, early Magyar folklore and religion, medicinal use of herbs, and oriental fighting arts, including traditional karate and Dragon Kenpo. In this last area my son, Jacob, has skills that far surpass his father's.

If you are using MSIE, 92% of my visitors do, then you have been listening to a MIDI of "Zigeunerweisen" written by Pablo de Sarasate. The MIDI hardly captures the magic of this masterpiece. My favorite rendition of this composition is by that voluptuous vixen of violin virtuosity, Lara St. John on her album Gypsy with Ilan Rechtman.
