I began my photojournalism career back in high school, working for the yearbook,
and spending weekends shooting sports for the Bedford Times-Mail and The Mitchell Tribune.

After completing my photography degree from Ivy Tech in 1985, and completing an internship at The Republic, I started work at the paper full-time in the fall of 1985 as a staff photographer. During my time at The Republic, I was able to cover several local and state events and was promoted to Photo Editor and Assistant Managing Editor before joining Associated Press in the summer of 2001.

While working for the AP, I have had the opportunity to cover the Olympics, the World Series, Hurricane Katrina, and several other state and national events.
