Key of A(?).
The Bohola Jig
Jig
The Bohola Jig
(MP3/644K)
NOTE: The B (last note in the 7th measure of both parts) was played as a C# when the tune was taught. Every notated version of the tune I could find has this note as a B and I found myself going for the B when learning the tune. However, the B and C# don't sound that great together so be ready to adapt to whichever way people are playing it. :) The B gives the tune a darker feel (I think), while the C# gives it a brighter sound. The choice of a B at this point also keeps the key of the tune rather ambiguous because C/C# don't occurr anywhere in the tune. Choosing to play C# put's it firmly in the D Major camp. Without a C/C# it's kind of a pentatonic tune.

"Fast music is like fast talk: you can't understand what the person is saying.
I like to play Irish traditional music at a nice, easy tempo. No speed.
That's how I learned it, and that's how I teach it."
